GENERAL

What are the official dates of the Annual Conference?
The 2022 ENSP European Tobacco Control Conference will take place from Thursday, July 7th through Friday, July 8th, 2022, with preconference workshops on Wednesday, July 6th 2022.

Why should I attend?
We look forward to meeting you in Crete where you can take part in high-quality, engaging sessions to enrich your professional development, tobacco control capacity and network with friends and colleagues. Hot topic symposia and workshops add to the intellectual exchange.

We also hope you attend so we can gather together as a tobacco control community. The pandemic has changed the way we collaborate and impacted our lives substantially. This in-person meeting will also take place in Crete – a wonderful place for the first in-person conference.

What health precautions should I expect in Crete?
ENSP will continue to monitor and update safety precautions for conference attendees who will travel to Crete. We will adhere to European ECDC guidelines and the Greek National Public Health Organisation guidelines for the management of COVID-19 in conference venues and the hospitality industry. Mask use will be mandatory throughout the conference.

How many people will be at the in-person conference?
Great question! Given all the complexity with the global pandemic, we’re a little unsure how many people will join us in Crete. We anticipate anywhere between 100-200 people.

Will everything take place in Crete or will you have a virtual event too?
The conference will be placed in Crete. However, some presentations may be delivered online. We are currently discussing the options of having in parallel virtual presentations/participation, but due to the complexity (and substantial added costs of running 2 conferences in parallel, the emphasis of the 2022 conference will be towards in-person participation.

What is the venue hotel?
We will have pre-booked guest rooms at several hotels in Heraklion, but the conference will take place at the Aquila Atlantis Hotel.

REGISTRATION

Do I have to register?
Yes, conference registration is mandatory to be able to participate in the conference. ENSP members must also register for the conference. The cost of registration is different for ENSP members, ENSP Associate Members and for general conference participants. The cost of registration per category is presented under the Registration Tab.

Can I add other items to my registration at a later date?
Yes, you can log back into your profile and register for other services such as taxi transport and hotel accommodation either at the same time or after your perform your conference registration.

Can I attend a pre-conference workshop only?
There are a select number of pre-conference workshops, for which however you have to register to the 2022 ENSP Conference to participate. Information on these pre-conference workshops will be updated as they are finalized.

Are there any meals included with the conference registration fee?
Hot lunch buffet meals are provided during the conference. Coffee stations will also be running throughout the conference to ensure that tea, juice, coffee and snacks are always available. A number of evening social events in Heraklion are also being planned.

SYMPOSIA AND ABSTRACTS

How can I present an abstract or organize a session?
The call for abstracts and symposia for the 2022 Conference is open until the 15th May – hence please hurry up! To submit an abstract or symposia please click HERE
As space is tight, before the submission of a symposium it always helps to send an email to the ENSP secretariat or via the Contact Us form to be able to discuss the best options for your needs.

Do I have to register for the conference if I’m presenting a session?
Yes, you must register for the conference if you are presenting. There are no discounts for presenters.

How can I find out if my symposia or abstract is accepted?
Abstracts accepted for presentation will be notified by the end of May 2022, while symposia will be notified upon submission and communication with the ENSP secretariat.

Can I edit my submission (both content and presenters) after its been accepted?
If any of your abstract details have changed, please use the abstract submission form to indicate coordinating presenter changes, title and abstract edits, and all other changes. For symposia changes please contact the ENSP secretariat. Check your current program information to ensure that your session contains accurate details for the program book. Please note that changes are possible until 3 weeks before the conference when the conference abstract book will be prepared and the abstracts collated within a Special Issue of Tobacco Prevention & Cessation, the official scientific journal of ENSP.

Will my abstract be published online?
All accepted abstracts will be published online within an Open Access Supplement of Tobacco Prevention & Cessation. Abstracts will be available in both Scopus, Pubmed, Web of Science and Google Scholar. Each abstract will receive a separate Digital Object Identifier (DOI), a permanent link to the abstract.

EXHIBITORS AND SPACES

How can I become an exhibitor?
We have many different exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities. There will be space for exhibitions within the conference rooms and the conference foyer. For additional questions please email the ENSP Secretariat or use the Contact Us form of the website
